In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God...
He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only [Son], who is at the Father's side, has made him known.
The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

"Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord."
But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people."
While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. ... With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.
Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.
Restore us, O Lord God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.
Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
...but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people.
...that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name...
...but [Jesus] made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross!
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped...
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" — which means, "God with us."
She [Mary] will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
