[God] did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God.
Peter and John replied, "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard."
For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.
[Jesus] said to them, "It is I; don't be afraid." Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
We are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
You are to help your brothers until the Lord gives them rest, as he has done for you, and until they too have taken possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving them. After that, you may go back and occupy your own land, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave you east of the Jordan toward the sunrise.
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.
Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. ... Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
[Joshua said,] "For the Lord your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The Lord your God did to the Jordan just what he had done to the Red Sea when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God."
O Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
But you are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
Joshua told the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you."
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
