Gedanken zum Vers des Tages
Wenn ich mich über Gott, seinen Willen und sein Vorhaben freue, entdecke ich eine unglaubliche Wahrheit: Wenn ich mir das wünsche, was Gott will, gewährt Gott mir freudig meine Herzenswünsche. Wie es in dem Text eines alten Liedes heißt: “bis ich ganz und gar mit dir eins bin”. Sobald das passiert, wenn also unser Wille Gott übergeben und unser Herzenswunsch seine Verherrlichung ist, wartet Gott sehnsüchtig darauf, unsere Bitten und Herzenswünschen zu erfüllen, um uns damit zu segnen.

Be careful not to misread this promise as saying that God will give us whatever we want. Notice that first emphatic phrase that qualifies this promise: "Delight yourself in the Lord..." As my heart delights in the Lord and his will and his purposes, I find a fantastic truth at work; he fulfills those desires. When I yearn for what the Lord wants, he enjoys giving me the desires of my heart. An old hymn has us sing this prayer: "Sweet will of God, still fold me closer, 'til I am wholly lost in Thee." When I lose myself in the will of God and my heart delights to honor him, God rushes to bring us the desires of our heart and bless me with more of him!

Heiliger HERR, Gott unserer Väter und großer Geber aller guten Gaben, ich danke dir dafür, dass du dich danach sehnst, die Reichtümer deiner Gnade über mir auszuschütten. Bitte berühre mein Herz, damit ich das Verlangen nach deinen Willen habe, und schenke mir den erforderlichen Mut, ihn zu tun, dir zur Ehre. In Jesu Namen bete ich. Amen.
My Prayer...
Holy Lord, God of our Fathers and great Giver of every perfect gift, thank you for longing to bless me and pour the riches of your grace upon me. Please touch my heart to desire your will and then to boldly ask you to accomplish it to your glory. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
