Der alte Geizhals hat diese Stelle der Bibel bestimmt nie gesehen! Gott hatte für die Armen immer eine Versorgungsregel. In dieser Jahreszeit, in der sich viele Menschen auf der ganzen Welt zusätzliche Zeit nehmen, um für die Bedürftigen zu sorgen, sollten wir unseren Kalender aufschlagen und uns eine Woche in den zukünftigen Monaten Mai und August für eine besondere Großzügigkeit vormerken. Diese Großzügigkeit sollte aus der Überzeugung unserer Herzen kommen und wir sollten ihr kontinuierlich hingegeben sein. Wir dürfen nicht nur einmal im Jahr fürsorglich und großzügig zu den Bedürftigen sein!
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Apparently, this is a passage Scrooge hadn't seen! Unfortunately, I fear this is also a passage many of the Father's children haven't taken very seriously. God set aside ways for his people to help the poor, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow. So, at this time of the year when many of us are more aware that we need to help those less fortunate, let's also open our date books, diaries, and schedulers, then find a date next year to dedicate ourselves to generosity in a special way. Let's also ask the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with appreciation for God's generous gifts to us and commit to a life of generosity all year long. God wants generosity to be our lifestyle — our "Christyle" — always.

Für alle deine wunderbaren Geschenke der Freundlichkeit und Gnade danke ich dir, lieber Vater und Gott. Bitte bewege mein Herz, um für andere Sorge zu tragen, wie du es tust. Bitte hilf mir den “Geist der Fürsorge” das ganze Jahr lebendig zu halten und nicht nur in der Weihnachtszeit. Im Namen Jesu bitte ich das. Amen.

I thank you for all your wonderful gifts of kindness and grace, dear Father and God. Please stir my heart to care for others as you do. Please help me keep that spirit of concern and generosity alive all year long and not just around Christmas time. In Jesus' name, I ask this. Amen.
