کلیسای انطاکیه در قرن اول مسیحیت، کلیسای بزرگی بود. این کلیسا با شاگردان یهودی و شاگردانی از امّت ها که بسیار بااستعداد بودند، برکت یافته بود. این شاگردان، اولین گروهی از پیروان عیسی بودند که به مسیحی نامیده شدند. بسیاری از این نوایمانان مسیحی، اشخاصی دیگر را در جامعه خودشان، تعلیم و بشارت دادند. این «عده کثیر» بیادمان می آورد که قدرت کلیسای اولیه محدود به رهبران معروفش نبود، بلکه همچنین به تعهد گسترده اعضای آن بستگی داشت، اعضایی که از عطایای خدادی شان برای خدمت به دیگران استفاده میکردند.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Antioch was a great church in the first century. God blessed this church with both Jewish and Gentile disciples who were very talented. These disciples were the first followers of Jesus in the New Testament who were called Christians. Many of these new Christians taught and evangelized others in their community and the region around them. These "many others" who "taught and preached the word of the Lord" remind us that the power of the early Church was not limited to its well-known leaders. Church life in Antioch involved its members' dedication to ministering and using the gifts that God had given them to serve others.
دعای من
ای خدای قادر مطلق و قدرتمند، خواهش میکنم که لشکری از اشخاص متعهد و سرسپرده که مایل به خدمت، دعا، بشارت، و تعلیم هستند، برخیزان؛ تا دیگران فیض تو را که در پسرت عیسی به ما بخشیده ای را بدانند. قدرت روز بروز چون یک مسیحی را زیستن در ما و در روزگار ما احیا کن، همانطور که در کلیسای اولیه بود! من اینرا در نام قدرتمند منجی و خداوند خود، عیسی، میطلبم. آمین.
My Prayer...
Almighty and powerful God, please raise an army of committed people who will serve, pray, evangelize, and teach so that others may know the grace you have given us in your Son. Please renew the power of everyday Christians in our day just as it was in the early Church! I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, my Savior and Lord. Amen.
