Pensées sur le Verset du Jour...
Après une liste de vices scandaleux et communs (1 Corinthiens 6: 9-10), Paul termine son exhortation par cette incroyable parole de grâce. Il a dû le faire parce que nous avons tous tendance à vivre au pays du «j’étais». Pour certains d’entre nous, nos réalisations passées deviennent notre excuse pour vivre dans l’arrogance d’hier. Paul a écrit Philippiens 3: 4-9 pour ce groupe. Pour d’autres, les blessures et les péchés de notre passé deviennent le sac de lourdes pierres que nous traînons avec nous tout au long de notre vie. Nous retirons ces pierres rances et les inspectons à nouveau, pour notre plus grand malheur. Nous les utilisons pour prouver pourquoi nous ne pouvons pas continuer notre vie. Quel réveil glorieux Paul donne aux Corinthiens et, à travers eux, à nous dans ce passage. En Christ, il n’y a plus de sacs ni de pierres. Nous sommes propres! Nous sommes rendus saints ! Nous sommes libérés de notre passé ! Nous sommes déclarés innocents de tout acte répréhensible. Comment? Pourquoi? Par qui? Le sacrifice et le triomphe de Jésus et l’œuvre puissante du Saint-Esprit ont tout changé pour nous.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Following a list of scandalous and common vices (1 Corinthians 6:9-10), Paul finished his exhortation with this incredible word of grace. He had to do it because we all tend to live in the land of "I-used-to-be." For some of us, our past accomplishments become our excuse to live in the arrogant afterglow of yesterday. Paul wrote Philippians 3:4-9 for this group. For others, the wounds and sins of our past become the bag of heavy rocks we drag with us through the rest of life. We take those rancid rocks out and inspect them again to our misery. We use them to prove why we can't move on with our lives. What a glorious awakening Paul gives the Corinthians and, through them, gives us in this passage. In Christ, there are no more bags and no more rocks. We're clean! We're made holy! We are freed from our past! We're declared innocent of any wrongdoing. How? Why? Who? The sacrifice and triumph of Jesus and the powerful work of the Holy Spirit changed everything for us.

Pardonne-moi, Père, de m'attarder sur les jours passés, de gâcher mes jours d'aujourd'hui et d'obscurcir mes lendemains. Aide-moi avec ma tendance à vivre dans le pays du «j'étais». S'il te plaît, donne-moi le courage de croire que Tu as remis mon passé à sa juste place et que Tu souhaites que je fasse quelque de nouveau et glorireux en moi aujourd'hui, quelque chose de magnifique et gracieux qui te rende honneur ! Au nom de Jésus, je te remercie. Amen.
My Prayer...
Forgive me, Father, for lingering on yesterdays, ruining my todays, and clouding my tomorrows. Help me with my tendency to live in the land of "I-used-to-be." Please give me the courage to believe that you have put my past in its proper place and want me to do a new glorious thing in me today, a magnificent and gracious something that brings you honor! In Jesus' name, I thank you. Amen.
