आज के वचन पर आत्मचिंतन...
यीशु हमें शिक्षा के अविश्वसनीय महत्व की स्मरण दिलाता है। उनके शिष्य दूसरों की सेवा और आशीर्वाद देने के अपने वर्तमान मिशन से थक चुके थे। यीशु इस बात से दुखी था कि उसके चचेरे भाई और अग्रदूत, यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले को हेरोदेस ने क्रूर तरीके से मार डाला था। भीड़ अधिक सहायता, चमत्कार और ध्यान की तलाश में यीशु और उसके शिष्यों के पास आती रही। जबकि हम उनसे महान चमत्कार और उनकी करुणा और शक्ति से उत्पन्न होने वाले अद्भुत संकेतों की अपेक्षा कर सकते हैं, यीशु जानते थे कि इन चरवाहारहित भेड़ों को उस शिक्षक से अच्छी, ठोस, व्यावहारिक शिक्षा की आवश्यकता थी जो उन्हें जानता है और उनकी सबसे अधिक परवाह करता है। लोगों को आत्मा के लिए भोजन और पेट भरने के लिए भोजन की आवश्यकता होती है।
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Jesus reminds us of the incredible importance of teaching. His disciples were tired from their recent mission to serve and bless others. Jesus was grieved that his cousin and forerunner, John the Baptizer, had been viciously executed by Herod. The crowds flocked to Jesus and his disciples, looking for more help, miracles, and attention. While we might expect him to do great miracles and wondrous signs arising out of his compassion and power, Jesus knew these shepherdless sheep needed good, solid, down-to-earth, practical teaching from the Teacher who knows them and cares for them most. People need food for the soul and food to fill their bellies.

Almighty God, please bless your Church with dynamic, compassionate, and effective teachers. Please give your people, your sheep, a hunger for your Word and a willingness to put it into practice in our lives. In Jesus' name. Amen.
