오늘의 묵상
하나님 입장에서 극도로 "어리석으셨던" 행동은, 사람들을 자신에게 이끄시기 위해 십자가를 기꺼이 사용하셨다는 것입니다. 십자가라는 것은 언뜻 보면 흉물스럽고 끔찍한 형벌 도구입니다. 소위 인간쓰레기같은 범죄자 (취급을 당한) 한 사람이 십자가에 달려 죽었는데, 그런 광경에 온 세상의 마음이 빼앗기게 된다는 것은... 사람의 지혜와 상상력으로는 불가능해 보입니다. 하지만 하나님께서는 하십니다. 그 십자가는 문화적 장벽을 뛰어넘고, 언어의 담을 극복하며, 인종적 차별을 뚫고 전해집니다. 십자가는 하나님께서 어리석음과 연약함을 실천해 보이신 것이며, 그것을 통해 사망을 정복하고 우리의 마음을 자신에게로 이끄셨습니다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
God's ultimate "foolishness" is his willingness to use the cross to bring others to him. At first glance, the cross is a hideous and horrible tool. In our human wisdom, we could never visualize using a man crucified as criminal scum to capture the hearts of the world. But God does. The cross transcends cultural boundaries, overcomes language barriers, and reaches across racial differences. The cross is God's demonstration of foolishness and weakness (1 Corinthians 1:18-25), yet through it, Jesus conquered death and brought our hearts to him.

아버지 하나님, 바보같은 사람을 속이거나 놀리는 사람들이 오늘날 참 많지만, 아버지께서 예수님과 함께 갈보리 언덕에서 보이신 "어리석으심"과 "연약하심"이 너무도 강하게 제 마음을 파고듭니다. 아버지의 사랑으로 제 가슴이 얼마나 감동받았는지, 아버지의 은혜의 확신으로 가득 차는지... 말로는 표현할 수조차 없습니다. 고맙습니다! 저를 그렇게나 사랑하셨다니 말 그대로 입이 쩍 벌어지게 놀라 버립니다. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
On this day, Father, when many people play games and tricks and play the fool, I am powerfully reminded of your "foolishness" and "weakness" at Calvary with Jesus. Words cannot express how powerfully they have touched me with your love and filled me with the assurance of your grace. Thank you! I am utterly amazed that you would love me so. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
