오늘의 묵상
서구 문화에서는 연로하신 분이 예전처럼, 혹은 타문화권의 연장자들처럼 존경을 받지는 못합니다. 성경은 우리보다 앞서 가신 경건하신 분들을 귀하게 모셔야 할 필요가 있음을 반복해서 강조합니다. 이 본문의 아버지가 육신의 아버지이든, 지혜를 구하는 자를 가르치시는 스승님과도 같은 분이든 상관없이 이 원칙은 동일합니다. 오랜 기간동안 하나님을 섬기셨으며 지혜와 신실함이 증명된 분들의 음성에 귀를 기울인다면, 우리들은 배우고 얻을 것이 많게 될 것입니다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Those who are older are not as respected in Western cultures today as they once were and as "the elders" are respected in other cultures. The Bible repeatedly reminds us of our NEED to honor those who are godly and who have gone before us. Whether the father behind this passage is the physical father of the person receiving instruction or he was the teacher of this student seeking wisdom, either way the principle is the same. We have much to learn and much to gain from heeding the voice of those who have served God for many years and have proved themselves wise and faithful.

사랑하는 하나님, 전능하신 아버지, 아버지의 지혜를 나눠주고 삶의 경험을 함께 해준 지혜로운 분들을 제 삶에 허락하셨으니 감사드립니다. 그들이 제게 투자한 사랑과 인도함에 대해 얼마나 고마와하는지 알게 되도록 도우시고, 또한 저를 사용하시어 제 이후에 오는 사람들에게도 똑같이 베풀 수 있도록 해 주십시오. 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Loving God and Almighty Father, thank you for those wise people in my life that have shared your wisdom and their experience with me. Please help them know how much I appreciate their investment of love and guidance in me and please use me to do the same for those who come after me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
