오늘의 묵상
오랜 기다림 끝에 만족감을 얻는 것이 좋은 보상(reward)입니다! 우리가 사는 "현대" 사회의 즉흥적 변덕스러움과 상반되는 성경 말씀을 하나만 고르라면 바로 오늘의 말씀일 겁니다! 마음을 단단히 먹고... 자기절제하고... 미래의 소망에 초점을 맞추라는 것은, 흔해빠진 광고문구와는 어울리지 않지만 우리보다 앞서 살아갔던 위대한 이들의 영혼이 붙들었던 진리입니다!
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
Is there really such a thing as delayed gratification? Our culture sure doesn't seem to think so! We want all of our benefits, blessings, and delights now! In today's world, we don't seem to want to wait for anything! So if there were ever a verse that did NOT match the whims of our "modern" society, this would have to be it:
"Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed."
Notice that none of those phrases is found in a modern advertising slogan. All are, however, the sustaining actions of the great souls who have gone before us. We ignore them at our spiritual peril. We embrace them to follow in that great heritage of faith we see in Hebrews 11:1-40!

영원하신 하나님, 이 세상에는 참으로 부족하면서도 저에겐 참으로 필요한 성품과 지혜를 온전히 제 안에 빚으시기 위하여... 제가 인내심과 신실함을 갖게 도와주시옵소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Eternal God, please help me have the patience and faithfulness to let you fully form my character and develop the spiritual wisdom that my world lacks and that I so much need. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
