오늘의 묵상
예수님께서 베드로에게 "칼로 일어선 자는 칼로 망한다" 라고 하셨습니다. 폭력은 폭력을 낳고, 쓰디쓴 폭력적 복수를 맛보지 않는 폭력배는 거의 없습니다. 하나님의 지혜자도 이 구절에서 똑같은 이야기를 하고 있지만 한가지를 더 말하고 있습니다. 의로운 사람에게 축복이 임한다는 것이고, 뿌린 대로 거둘 것이라는 것입니다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Judas betrayed Jesus and Temple soldiers arrested him. Peter drew a sword to defend the Lord and used it against the servant of the high priest (Matthew 26:47-51). Jesus told Peter, "Put your sword back in its place... for all who draw the sword will die by the sword" (Matthew 26:52). Violence begets violence, and rarely do violent people not have to taste the bitter repayment of violence on their own heads. God's Wise Man essentially says the same thing in this verse but with one key addition. Blessings come to the righteous person. We reap what we sow, whether we sow righteousness or violence!

거룩하신 하나님, 의로움으로 저를 축복해 주시옵소서 — 당신의 은혜와 자비만이 아니라 당신의 성령으로 제 심령을 변화시킴으로서 축복해 주시옵소서. 예수님 이름으로 간구합니다. 아멘
My Prayer...
Holy God, please bless me with righteousness — not just by your grace and mercy, but by your Holy Spirit's transformation of my heart. And, dear Father, we close our prayer with the please of King David:
Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure — you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts (Psalm 7:9).
We pray this in the name of Jesus our Lord. Amen.
