오늘의 묵상
시련을 당할 때, 하나님께서 약속하신 두가지를 기억합시다: (1) 벗어날 길, (2) 시련을 견딜 수 있는 능력. 우리가 이것을 신뢰할 수 있을까요? 네, 물론입니다. 왜냐하면 예수님께서 그 능력을 증명해 보이셨으며, 하나님께서 그 능력을 약속하셨고 게다가 그리스도 안에 한 형제 자매 된 사람들이 이 능력으로 승리하는 것을 볼 수 있기 때문입니다! 하지만, 그런 "벗어날 길"을 제공하신다는 것이 아예 도전, 역경, 어려움을 아주 안 만날 것이라는 것은 아님을 알아야 합니다. 시련에 굴복하지 않는 것과, 여러 도전에 포기하지 않고 신실하게 버텨냄으로써 좋은 성품이 만들어집니다. 하나님께서는 빠져 나갈 길을 제공하실 뿐 아니라 우리가 거룩한 성품을 갖게 되는 데에도 관심이 있으십니다. 이 두가지에 균형을 맞추시는 것이 하나님이 하시는 일입니다. 신실하게 남는 자가 되는 것은 우리가 할 일입니다. (로마서 5:1-5; 베드로전서 1:7)
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
In the face of temptation, God has promised us two things:
- A way out.
- The power to stand up under trial.
Can we really believe this? Yes, because Jesus demonstrated this power, God promised us this power and he is faithful, and we can look at brothers and sisters in Christ who have triumphed by this power! However, we must not think that the way out means that we will not face challenges, hardships, temptations, or difficulties. Character is produced both by refusing to give in to temptation and also by refusing to give up during the challenges we face to remain faithful. God will provide us a way out, but he is also interested in developing our holy character. Where the balance is between a way out and developing our holy character is God's work. Whether we choose to remain faithful is our work. (Romans 5:1-5; 1 Peter 1:7)

사랑하는 아버지, 제게 시련에서 벗어날 길을 내어 주시고 그 시련을 승리로 이겨낼 수 있는 능력을 제공해 주심에 감사를 드립니다. 제가 시련의 시기에 유혹에 넘어가 죄를 지었던 때가 있으니 저를 용서해 주십시오. 벗어날 문을 찾으려고 원하지도 않았던 때가 있었으니, 저를 용서해주십시오. 하나님과 하나님의 나라를 성실하고 제 역할을 잘 담당하여 섬기는 자 되도록, 저를 정결하게 하시고 회복시켜 주십시오. 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Thank you, dear Father, for supplying me with the way out of temptation and the power to face it victoriously. Please forgive me for the times when I succumbed to temptation and sinned. Please correct and forgive me for those times when I have chosen not to find your door of escape. Cleanse and restore me to faithful service, strengthen me for the trials and temptations ahead, and make me useful to your work in my world. In Jesus' name, I depend upon your promise and grace. Amen.
