오늘의 묵상
우리들이 추구하는 물질적인 것들은 거의 일시적인 것들입니다. 그런 것들의 효용성이란 고작 수개월이나 기껏해야 수년 정도입니다. 심지어는 우리와 우리가 사랑하는 이들의 생애조차도 짧습니다. 하지만 하나님의 성품과, 그분을 정의하는 품성("거룩, 거룩, 거룩하신 전능하신 주 하나님!")과 우리에게도 거룩하라고 요구하심은 영원한 것입니다. 그러므로 우리의 삶을 안정된 기초 위에 건설해야 하는데, 이 기초는 하나님의 뜻 위에, 또 그분의 거룩함을 함께 하려는 헌신 위에 놓여집니다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
So many of the material things we pursue are temporary. Their usefulness lasts only months, or at most, only a few short years. Even our lives, and the lives of those we love, are short. The defining quality of God's character, holiness,* is forever — "for endless days." So as we build our lives, let's construct them on a secure foundation, the will of God and a commitment to share in his holiness by living to honor him.
* As the seraphim in Isaiah's vision cried out, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty...!" (Isaiah 6:1-4).
내 기도
거룩하신 하나님, 주님의 은혜로 저를 거룩하게 만드시고 제 죄를 용서해 주셨으니 감사드립니다. 제 안에 성령으로 충만하게 하셔서 제 삶 속에 성령의 열매를 드러내게 하시고 주님의 은혜와 성품을 반영하게 하시옵소서. 주님의 뜻을 알고자 하고 주님의 진리를 추구하고자 하는 배고픔과, 그것들을 이해할 수 있고 제 삶 속에 적용할 수 있는 능력을 허락해 주시옵소서. 예수님의 귀하신 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Holy God, thank you for making me holy and forgiving my sin by your grace (Romans 5:6-11; Colossians 1:22-23). Please fill me with your Spirit and bring forth the Spirit's fruit in my life so that I reflect your grace and holy character. Please give me a hunger to know your will as I seek your truth and apply it to my life. I want to build my life with you at its center, with your holiness as my goal. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
