오늘의 묵상
추수 감사절 같은 절기들이 있는 시기가 되었으니, 오늘은 모세가 말했던 중요한 부분을 짚어보겠습니다. 일이 잘 풀릴 때에는 감사드리는 것을 너무 자주 잊어버리는 것이 우리들입니다. 문제가 생기면 하나님 앞에서 징징거리고 도와달라고 떼쓰기도 잘 하지만, 우리에게 일어나는 좋은 일들에 대해서는 마치 우리가 마땅히 "받을 자격이 있는" 것처럼 당연시하기도 합니다. 그러나 우리가 가진 것들은 하나님께서 약속하신 것을 지키시려는 그분의 은혜와 신실함을 확증하는 것일 뿐임을, 하나님께서 알려주시는 것입니다. 우리가 받는 축복들은 하나님의 손으로부터 오며, 다른 이들보다 우리들이 더 받을 만해서 받는 것이 아니라는 것을 우리 스스로 기억하며 서로에게 알려주어야 할 것입니다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
As we enter the month, often associated with giving thanks and sharing our resources with others on Giving Tuesday, this reminder from Moses is an important one! We so easily forget to give thanks when things are going well. It's easy for us to whine and ask God to help us when we are in trouble, but so often, we feel like we "deserve" the good things that happen to us. God reminds us that what we have confirms his grace and faithfulness to do what he has said. Let's remind each other that our blessings come from his hand, not because we deserve them more than someone else. In addition, God blesses us so that we can share his blessings with others (2 Corinthians 9:10-11). We are called to be conduits of God's blessings and grace.
내 기도
관대하신 아버지 하나님, 자주 잊어버리는 저를 용서해 주시옵소서. 제 삶에 부어주신 좋은 것들을 받을 자격이 없다는 것을 제 마음 깊숙한 곳에서는 잘 알고 있습니다만, 종종 제가 그런 것들을 스스로 성취했다고 생각하는 자신을 발견합니다. 모든 좋은 것들을 누릴 자격이 참으로 있으셨던 예수님께서, 그것들을 다 포기하시고 이 땅에 오셔서 상상하기 힘들 정도로 엄청난 구원의 선물을 제게 주셨으니, 제 마음도 그런 예수님과 같은 마음이 되도록 정련시켜 주시옵소서. 그 은혜의 선물을 주시고 제가 받을 자격 없는 다른 많은 선물도 제게 퍼부어 주셨으니 너무 감사드립니다. 예수님의 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Generous Father, forgive me for my forgetfulness and occasional stingyness. In my heart, I know I don't deserve all the good things you have poured into my life. Sometimes, however, I find myself thinking that I've earned them because I work hard and deserve them. Use your Spirit to forge in me a heart like Jesus' heart. Our Lord did deserve everything good and yet gave it all up to come to earth and give me the greatest gift imaginable — the gift of your salvation! Thank you so much for this gift of grace and the many other undeserved gifts you have lavished on me. In Jesus' name, I thank and praise you. Amen.
