Temor do Senhor é um dos grandes temas do Velho Testamento. A frase é um tanto quanto difícil traduzir, especialmente à luz da mensagem repetida da Bíblia para “não temer”, e o lembrete de João que “o amor lança fora todo o temor”. Significa mais do que “ser reverente a Deus”. Geralmente, “temor do Senhor” significa que lembramos a nossa posição na ordem das coisas. Sabemos que somos profundamente amados por nosso santo Pai no céu. Nós reconhecemos que somos maus e pecadores em comparação a ele, e somos salvos pela graça e misericórdia de Deus. Reconhecemos que sua majestade e santidade estão muito além de nós, e que somos insignificantes em comparação a Ele. Vimos a Deus sabendo da nossa necessidade dele e que não temos direito de exigir nada dele. A incrível realidade é que quando nos aproximamos de Deus com esta sensação de reverência e respeito profundo, ele nos recebe de braços abertos e nos traz para junto dele. (Veja Isaías 57:15)
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
"Fear of the Lord" is one of the great themes of the Old Testament. The phrase is particularly hard to translate, especially in light of the repeated message of the Bible to "fear not" and John's reminder that "perfect love casts out all fear." It means more than "hold God in reverence." Generally, "fear of the Lord" means that we remember our place in the order of things. We know we are deeply loved by our holy Father in heaven. We recognize that we are weak and sinful in comparison and are saved by God's mercy and grace. We acknowledge that his majesty and holiness are far beyond us and that we pale in significance before God. We come to God acknowledging our need for him and our unworthiness to demand anything from him. The incredible reality is that when we approach God with this sense of awe and profound respect, he in turn welcomes us with open arms and brings us close. (See Isaiah 57:15)

Santo e Justo Pai, Deus Todo Poderoso, obrigado pela sua misericórdia, graça e perdão. Obrigado pelo seu amor, fidelidade e justiça. Venho à sua presença de joelhos, reconhecendo que o Senhor é santo, majestoso, poderoso e reto em tudo que faz. Sem a sua graça e o dom do seu Espírito, sei que não seria possível eu chegar na sua presença com tanta intrepidez. Justo Pai, perdoe-me pelos meus pecados e capacite-me para ser uma pessoa de integridade e graça. No nome de Jesus eu oro. Amém.
My Prayer...
Holy and Righteous Father, God Almighty, thank you for your mercy, grace, and forgiveness. Thank you for your love, faithfulness, and justice. I come to you on my knees, recognizing that you are holy, majestic, awesome in power, and righteous in all that you do. Without your grace and the gift of your Spirit, I know I could not come into your presence with such boldness. Righteous Father, forgive me for my sins and empower me to be a person of integrity and grace. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
