இந்தநாளுக்குரிய வேதவார்த்தையின் கருப்பொருள்
கனம் பண்ணுவதைப் பற்றி அதிகம் அறியப்படாத மற்றும் குறைவாக நடைமுறையில் இருக்கும் ஒரு காலத்தில், வயதானவர்களுக்கு மரியாதை கொடுப்பதின் அவசியம் பெரும்பாலும் கவனிக்கப்படுவதில்லை. ஆயினும்கூட, இந்த வேத வசனத்தில் , தேவனின் வார்த்தையின்படி, முதியோர்களுக்கு கனம்பண்ணுவது , தேவனுக்கு பயந்து நடப்பது குறிப்பிட்டு சொல்லப்படுகிறது . ஆனால் நாம் ஆச்சரியப்பட வேண்டியதில்லை, ஏனென்றால் மற்றவர்களுடனான நமது உறவை நோக்கிய முதல் கட்டளையாக உன் தாயையையும் தகப்பனையும் கனம் பண்ணுவாயாக என்று தேவன் கட்டளை கொடுத்தார் (யாத்திராகமம் 20:12-17). (முதல் நான்கு கட்டளைகள் அவருடனான நமது உறவை நோக்கியவையாகும் - யாத்திராகமம் 20:1-11). இவ்வுலகத்தில் உள்ள பெரும்பாலான நாட்டின் மக்களுக்கு மாறாக தனித்துவம் உள்ள கிறிஸ்தவ மக்களாக இருப்போம்: நம்மில் வயது முதிந்தவர்களுக்கு கனத்தையும் , மரியாதையையும் அன்பின் பராமரிப்பையும் கொடுப்போம் !
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
In an age where respect is little known and even less practiced, showing honor for those who are older is often overlooked. Yet in this scripture, by the Lord's own word, showing respect for the elderly ranks right up there with reverencing God. But then we shouldn't be surprised since God made honoring parents the very first commandment directed at our relationship with others (Exodus 20:12-17). (The first four commandments were directed at our relationship with him — Exodus 20:1-11). Let's be distinctive in contrast to most of the world: let's honor, respect, and care for those who are older among us!

பரிசுத்தமும் நித்தியமுள்ள தேவனே , மாம்சத்திலும் விசுவாசத்திலும் எனக்கு அருளப்பட்ட பெற்றோருக்காக நன்றி. எனக்கு ஆவிக்குரிய வழிகாட்டியாக இருந்தவர்களுக்கு மேன்மையான ஆசீர்வாதத்தை தந்தருளும் . அவர்களின் வழிகாட்டுதல் இல்லாமல், நான் எப்படி முதிர்ச்சியடைந்து உமது ராஜ்யத்திற்கு பயனுள்ளதாக இருந்திருப்பேன் என்று எனக்குத் தெரியவில்லை. நான் வயது சென்றவனாகும் போது தயவுக்கூர்ந்து எனக்கு உதவுங்கள். நான் என் நம்பிக்கையில் முதிர்ச்சியடைய விரும்புகிறேன், மேலும் அடியேன் மாதிரியாக நீர் முன் வைத்தவர்களுக்குத் தேவையான குணத்தைப் பெற விரும்புகிறேன். உம்முடைய மக்களாகிய நாங்கள், வயதில் சிறியவர்களும் மற்றும் வயது முதிர்ந்தவர்களாகிய இருபாலரும், நாங்கள் வாழும் நாட்களில் உமக்கு முன்பாக எங்கள் உறவுகளுக்கு கண்ணியத்தையும் கனத்தையும் மீட்டெடுப்போம். இயேசுவின் நல்ல நாமத்தின் மூலமாய் , நான் இவைகளை கேட்கிறேன். ஆமென்.
My Prayer...
Holy and Eternal God, thank you for my parents in the flesh and in the faith. Please give those who have been my spiritual mentors a special blessing. Without their guidance, I'm not sure how I would have matured and become useful to your Kingdom. Please help me as I grow older. I want to mature in my faith and gain the character that will be needed by those you have placed before me to influence. May we, your people, both young and old alike, restore dignity and respect to our relationships before you in our generation. In Jesus' name, I ask this. Amen.
