For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age...
In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the prophets.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
As God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
[Zechariah said,] "Praise be to the Lord, God of Israel, because he has come and has redeemed his people. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, as he said through his holy prophets long ago."
[Zechariah prophesied concerning John,] "You, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God."
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord."
Simeon took him [Jesus] in his arms and praised God, saying: "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."
Joshua told the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you."
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?
[God] did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.
Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?

...while we wait for the blessed hope — the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
How can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.
Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people.
I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles.
Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever.

The people served the Lord throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had seen all the great things the Lord had done for Israel.
In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."
In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.
I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you.
People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
"I [Darius King of Persia] issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions."
[The Lord appeared to Solomon upon the completion of the temple and said,] "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
Moses thought that his own people would realize that God was using him to rescue them, but they did not.
When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.

May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.
But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people."
He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
