But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
He answered, "Do you not know what these are?"
"No, my lord," I replied.
So he said to me, "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: `Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,'" says the Lord Almighty.
