오늘의 묵상
이런 아름다운 충성의 서약은 매년 수천번씩 열리는 결혼식에서 찾아볼 수 있지만, 놀랍게도 이 약속은 신랑이나 신부가 했던 것이 아닙니다. 룻이 자신의 시어머니에게 했던 서약입니다. 어떤 이는 룻의 시어머니를 "전(ex-) 시어머니"라고 부를지도 모르겠습니다. 그 이유는, 룻의 남편이자 나오미의 아들이 이미 고인이 된 상황이었기 때문입니다. 하나님은 충성심을 사랑하시기에, 우리가 다른 이들에게 충성스럽다면 그의 축복과 총애를 내려 주십니다. 사람들이 일회용 접시나 냅킨처럼 쉽게 버려지는 시대이지만, 충성심은 하나님께서 사랑하시는 품성일 뿐 아니라, 예수님 안에 있는 우리에게 요구하시는 성품입니다. 친구들과 가족과 예수님을 따르는 다른 사람들에게 충성하겠다고 굳게 헌신합시다.
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
This beautiful statement of loyalty makes its way into thousands of weddings each year. Incredibly, this wasn't originally a pledge of a bride or groom. Instead, it was the pledge of Ruth to her mother-in-law — some would call her an ex-mother-in-law since Ruth's husband, Naomi's son, had died. Ruth, however, never treated Naomi as an "ex" of any kind. God loves loyalty and bestows his blessing and favor when we are faithful to others. In an era where people are thrown away as readily as paper plates, paper napkins, and soft drink cans, let's remember that loyalty is a quality that God not only loves but also a character trait that he defines for us in Jesus. So, let's see our loyalty to our friends, family, and other followers of Jesus as a crucial and God-honoring commitment. God used Ruth's loyalty to change history and bring us Jesus!

전능하시고 신실하신 하나님, 이스라엘에게 주신 언약에 대한 하나님의 충성되심을 감사드립니다. 당신의 백성들을 포기하지 않으셨고, 그들의 변덕스러움과 신실하지 못함에도 언약을 버리지 않으심에 감사드립니다. 사나운 폭풍우 같기도 하고 변덕스러운 이 세상에서 충성스럽고 고귀한 사람, 또 당신의 진정한 자녀가 되기위해 노력하는 우리에게 복 주시옵소서. 신실함의 불빛이 우리를 통해 비춰져서 다른 이들이 이 불빛을 보고 당신의 은혜와 백성들 가운데에서 안도감과 희망을 발견할 수 있도록 하여 주소서. 예수님 이름으로 기도합니다. 아멘.
My Prayer...
Almighty and faithful God, thank you for your loyalty to your covenant promises to Israel. Thank you for not giving up on your people or abandoning your promises despite the fickleness and unfaithfulness of your children. Bless us today as we seek to be loyal and honorable people, your true children in a turbulent and treacherous world. May the light of faithfulness seen in us beckon others to find stability and hope in your grace and among your people. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
